Pulse in the community
Studio Pulse Center for Dance is a woman owned and operated small business in Anchorage, Alaska. Opened in 2013, the studio is also home to Pulse Dance Company, a non-profit adult performing arts organization founded in 2010 that produces innovative dance in our city, and provides opportunities for children, adults, and local artists to engage and collaborate in a myriad of ways. It is through the symbiotic relationship between the school and the professional division that countless special opportunities are made possible. Some of the ways we support our students and give back to our community include:

Dance scholarships totaling up to $1,000 are provided by studio owner Stephanie Wonchala to passionate students in need of tuition assistance.
Eligible families will have a current account with the studio, have demonstrated strong attendance for a minimum of one year, have a positive and kind rapport with our team, and be able to provide proof of financial need.
Community Giving
We believe in fostering a caring and connected community, and happily support other arts and non-profit organizations in our city.
Studio Pulse's community giving season is September-December. While we aim to accommodate all requests, please understand that requests made by current students are given priority. Reach out September through December if we can help further your organization's mission!
Free & Low Cost Performance Opportunities
Outside of regular season recitals, Pulse Dance Company works to make dance accessible to all through:
1) "Play with Pulse," a free community dance series offered in various styles during the summer.
2) Winter Productions with a low participation fee of $150 that covers for 3.5 months of rehearsals, choreographers, costumes, and a concert.
This amounts to pennies per hour to be involved in a large-scale production!
3) BLOOM, an artists in residence program that supports 3-6 emerging choreographers annually with free rehearsal space, stipends, and a fully produced concert. Participating dancers and students receive rehearsals, costumes, and more completely free of charge.
4) Ongoing creative projects outside of the classroom, including but not limited to collaborations with photographers and videographers to better prepare students for the commercial dance world following graduation.
